The wonderful world of Etsy
Well. Today I did some poking around on Etsy and I was blown away by how gee-normous and jam-packed with resources it is. I feel like the last one to the party because I had no idea!
I especially like these downloadable sidebar buttons...

...and the nifty bannerator for generating a shop banner using one of their desgns:
...there are even "street teams"... I'm not exactly sure what those are but there are tons of them with many many members, and their own workshops.
You can even search for items by color! Hm, what color should I search for?
I'm getting the impression that there is an entire Etsy Universe to explore, and I've only scratched the topmost part of the iceberg (I'm going for maximum metaphor mixing there).
Shoot, and I still don't even have anything to sell yet!
Pardon me, apparently I have work to do...
Cheers,
Jenny

I love Etsy! You can even find yummy foods too!

Oh drat, now I'll be spending even more time on the computer instead of sewing! I've not come across Etsy before either. I'll let you know in due course whether I'm thanking or cursing you!!

Ha! I'd just spent half hour poking around on Etsy then found this item on your blog. Beware. It's addictive, I tell you.

I love Etsy - I just told my friend at work about it because she loves jewellery and I am sure she will get lost in it. I didn't know all those beautiful buttons and banners existed though!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Etsy. I've not been on very long and keep finding new things. I've spent many an hour just looking through the treasuries! It's great! :)

I know, Etsy is so amazing!! I am fairly new to it myself and now feel such pressure to keep adding items to my shop! :) My only problem is that I spend way too much time on the computer drooling over other people's items that I haven't carved out any time to sew myself haha!!! Good luck with your new shop!!

I was wondering how everyone got the ETSY signs on their blogs. Thanks for the tip.

SOmetimes, when I am bored, but being to lazy to actually go find something to do, I will go to etsy and pick an item at random and just look- I am particularly fond of earrings, original paintings, and lampshades.
It is a wonderful time waster.Sometimes, I actually buy.

Etsy is a huge world filled with wonderful handmade goodies isn't it!

Oh, girlfriend!!! Come play with us on Etsy. You SO need a shop!
Street teams are groups of Etsians who form around a craft, a theme, or a geographic area. There are, for example, knitting street teams, and plushie teams, and such. I belong to the Arkansas Etsy street team--AREtsy--which started last July with four members and now has upwards of 90. Street teams work together to market more effectively. (They're also support groups of the best kind.)
Etsy rocks!!!

Jenny,
Every Friday I do a round up of the things I love, every other week focusing on Etsy... and today I just happened to do a round up of lovely RED things on etsy! The exactly same red you did, because I recognize many of those items from when I was putting together my post last night. Talk about coincidence...
I am trying to buy more handmade items for people, my mother's gift for Sunday came from Etsy. I'll do the reveal on Sunday, certainly don't want to ruin the surprise. It's a lovely way to discover new artists... I can spend hours on there drooling.

I'm always just blown away when I visit Etsy----there are so many creative and amazing people out there selling on Etsy now. In fact, I often must stay away from the site so I don't wind up buying more stuff!! ;-)
