Lulu says thank you!

Oh my, lots to cover! I am way behind with some things I've wanted to tell you about. First is the bag I ordered from Vicky at Scrap Happy and the neato surprises that came along with it, and also my submission for Amy's Tie One On (which I will get to in a moment, I promise).

A brief note: many of you have emailed and asked how my Mom is doing (I love how caring this blogging community is) and I am happy to report she was released yesterday and is now back home and well on the way to making a complete recovery.

Between getting her settled and keeping up with deadlines, I'm "socked" in! So for this post I will be assisted by Miss Lulu, the sock monkey I made for Loobylu's Month of Softies! Lulu is smitten with the gorgeous bag which I gushed about in an earlier post. It arrived very soon after I ordered it, with some extra special surprises inside! The bag is absolutely beautiful in person, and so well made, it is wonderful. But then, inside, I discovered two adorable little bonus bags, one for tissues and one for... well I'm not sure what it is meant to hold, but it is really really cute, see?

And that wasn't all! There was a note from Vicky that said her daughter Grace wanted to include some things for the dollhouse! Isn't that the sweetest thing ever? There was a teensy box with a birthday cake inside, with the most perfect yellow roses, it looks good enough to eat!

 

****I discovered after I wrote this that these adorable miniature items were actually made by Grace! Amazing!***

And the cutest little box of pastries, and a bitty doll that fits perfectly in the dollhouse cradle.

Thank you so much!!! I was alternately speechless and squealing as I opened each little tissue-wrapped item. Oh! I almost forgot, she also included a set of iron-on scottie dog transfers!

Thank you again Vicky, its a wonderful collection of dear things, and you and Grace were so sweet to send them to me.

And now back to Miss Lulu, its time to Tie One On. The theme is an apron for a doll or stuffed animal and I hope its not cheating to submit something I made a while ago.

It is made from half of a vintage hankie, gathered and stitched to a bit of ribbon. Too easy, as the edging was already embroidered, and the fabric is the sheer organza they used to make aprons from in the fifties. Even the little embridered detail was there already. More pics on Flickr.

This has to be a record post, even for me. I'm worn out!

Corners and ledges are showing their edges

The title of this post is a line from a poem I wrote as a teenager I think. Was I ever really that young? Oh well, time marchez! Anyhoo... I am posting some corners of my home pics actually on Thursday! Sorry about the blurryness of the photo of the wreath, I didn't realize I wiggled so much when I snapped it. It hangs at the bottom of the staircase, and holds a little surprise. I love sticking little things where you don't expect them.

And one of the current collection on the bedroom mantle, teapots:

This ancient china cabinet has been moved around the house endlessly, finally coming to rest just opposite the front door. I have been wanting to paint it white or something ever since it came to me from my grandmother's house. Daunting, though. I'm afraid I'll screw it up and then I'd feel terrible.

Its just so... dark and heavy. The bottom is full of random china that rattles every time you walk by it. That sound really reminds me of my grandmother's house. Visit the Corners group.

I need to win the lottery

While searching on eBay for dollhouse furniture, I came across this auction for an entire kitchen. Is this amazing or what? It is German, made in 1920 or so. Check out this cabinet:

Following some links at the bottom of the page I managed to get to eBay in German, and this shop full of totally wonderful German vintage toys. Can't read German, so no clue what some of it was, but it was gorgeous! You can't find cool stuff like that around these parts. Like a bridge construction set:

Golly... gosh... oh wow!

The other day I got a sweet email from mega-talented Amy of Inspireco, one of my newest and favoritest blogs.  She had seen something that made her think of me, and could she send it my way?  Um... yes please!  So this is what arrived, wrapped beautifully and tied up with polkadot ribbons and adorable little cards.  Isn't that the cutest mug you've ever seen?  So perfect for my afternoon mug of tea.  And then there was another smaller box, its note saying it was a little something for the dollhouse.  Inside was the sweetest little bouquet of flowers in a teensy china sugar bowl! 

I could just pass out from delight!  Now I have to get busy on getting the dollhouse presentable so these little beauties can sit on the little round table in the kitchen. Thank you SO MUCH Amy!
