I just read in the paper that Tasha Tudor passed away on Wednesday. She was one of my heroes in the world of children's illustrators.
As a tribute to her, here is a version of a post from last year:
*******************************
In a recent decluttering escapade, I unearthed a dusty stack of old Victoria magazines from the back of my closet. Flipping through them I came across an article about Tasha Tudor, one of my heroes in the world of children's illustration. The images were so striking, I had to scan and share. Click images to see them up large enough to read the text, and learn more about the life she lived at "Corgi Cottage"... as if time stopped somewhere in the 1800's.
I also looked around the net and found her family's web site with even more photos, like this one of Tasha's corgis...
Her passion for corgis inspired some charming books about the town of Corgiville, including Corgiville Fair and Corgiville Christmas.
I also found this clip from a documentary about Tasha. It is wonderful to hear her tell her story and see scenes from around her gorgeous home in Vermont. What a unique life she lived. Just like something out of a children's book.
Well done, Tasha.
Her family has created a memorial web page for her, with a memory book for anyone who loved Tasha to leave a message.
