appy Friday! It's another of my Fab Friday Freebies! But today the prize isn't a fat quarter, it's a sweet scottie softie I stitched up the other day using my pattern. The front is lovely nubbly white chenille and the back is a nifty red gingham.
There is actually an important reason I'm giving this little guy away... he represents something. He marks a change in the terms of usage for my scottie dog pattern. After digesting the various reactions to my earlier post, I came up with a solution that makes me very happy. I've decided to allow sales of softie scotties made from my pattern under a Creative Commons License. Basically that means that you can make and sell scotties using the pattern if you give attribution (credit to me), and if possible, link back to the Allsorts post that features the pattern.
And here's where it gets fun... as a measure of support to those who respect this license, I will do my part to help out. If you make a scotty softie and put it up for sale on etsy or somewhere else, email the info to me via scotties [at] jennybharris [dot com] and I'll give it a plug! This is my way of dealing with those scallywags who are using the pattern illicitly. I hope to see lots of adorable handmade scotties out in the marketplace giving those infringers some serious competition!
And thanks once again for all the warm fuzzies from the crafting community. After deleting several really negative comments on my earlier post, I finally decided to disable them altogether. It was a bit of a shock to come under attack like that. This topic sure ruffles feathers!
So, anyway, leave a comment and I'll choose a random winner sometime next week. Good luck!
Cheers, have a great weekend!
