Hello and I hope you're having a happy Wednesday! I'm very excited to see that so many of you have signed up for the book giveaway. I've been meaning to do this for years and finally I remembered in time!
But today I'd like to share a variation on my felt Christmas tree pattern, one with a twist! (well, more of a swirl actually) ...and since it reminds me of peppermints I am calling it my Peppermint Swirl Tree. It is made from felt like the previous trees, but it goes together a bit differently. The base is one piece and the "swirls" are sewn onto that, and then you stitch it up the back like before.
For this one, I would strongly recommend using freezer paper to cut the swirls. It makes it so much easier. Just print the pdf (link at the end of this post) and trace the five arcs onto the unshiny side of your freezer paper, place the sheet of freezer paper shiny side down on your felt and iron over it until it sticks, then cut out the swirls and peel off the freezer paper. Easy peasy.
Like before, you apply your swirls while the tree is still flat, then form it into a cone and stitch up the back seam. I left these unadorned because I liked the simplicity, but you could go as crazy as you like with embellishments!
Click here to download the pdf, and happy stitching!
Cheers,
Jenny
