Happy December 1st! Time to open the first door/envelope/pouch of your Advent Calendar. Do you remember my Peppermint Advent Calendar? I shared a tutorial for it a few years ago, back in my illustrated tutorial days. Thought it might be useful to post it again, so here it is!
The pouches are exactly the right size for a square of Ghirardelli Chocolate (peppermint bark flavor of course) and one of the little dangles. Then you hang the dangle from the button each day after you open the pouch to show your progress. I plan on making a pdf of the dangles and posting that tomorrow.
I still love this project and remember how fun it was to make. It was so satisfying to see the little pouches pile up as I completed them, and it is still a kick to fill the pockets and decide where to hang it each year. It's been on a couple of mantles, a Welsh dresser and in my studio (see top pic). I snapped that last year after the magazine shoot. The editor suggested I assemble a collection of my bits and bobs in my plate rack, so I climbed onto my worktable and composed that arrangement for them. Such fun!
Brrr! It is really cold in here today! The heat is turned off while we have a new cooktop installed. Yesterday, after years of procrastinating, we finally ran a gas line to the kitchen and by tonight I will be cooking with gas! Woohoo!
Cheers,
Jenny
