Yeppers, this is exactly what I need to shake my case of the blues. A project that's totally goofy and strictly for fun. I spotted Monica's Ron Swanson Along over at her nifty blog, Happy Zombie. You know who Ron Swanson is, right? He's a character on Parks and Recreation, known for some hysterically dry observations. The thought of making a quilt of his pixelated pic just cracks me up. So after a good laugh, I found myself pulling fabric and cutting about a zillion teensy squares. The pattern calls for 2.5" squares, and makes a 60" x 80" quilt, but I decided to make mine half that size, so I cut mine 1.5" ~ I know, insane. And despite ->this<-, I have almost zero experience making quilts. Just the one. Monica used a sophisticated palette of black, white and grays but of course I had to Allsortsify mine. Here's my first block.
Yes, I know... apparently I have totally forgotten how to do this. Surely the above block would win the 'No Seams Aligned Whatsoever!' award. Blocks two and three, I did a bit better.
Ron is known for being, let's say, not the warmest, fuzziest of characters. So I thought I would add more irony to my version by including a few fussycut kittens, hedehogs and cherries.
Eek, look at those mismatched seams! Oh, and of course it had to be in red and yellow... have you met me?
But I am way behind, Monica has posted up to block nine... must catch up!
Cheers,
Jenny
