Black and white and dread all over

A few days ago I created a new Flickr group... Black and White Halloween! I thought it would be great to gather wonderful images of crafts and decor using black and white, with maybe a bit of an accent color. Here are a few images that have already been added to the pool. A Fanciful Halloween Celebration

Abracadabra! Who knew there were such creative people out in Blogylvania? I've been exploring the gypsy caravan that is Fanciful Twist, and the creative genius of Vanessa Valencia. (gee, why couldn't I have a dramatic name like that?)

And when I say gypsy caravan, I mean gypsy caravan! She has a real one done up as a high-gothic romantic playground!

She's hosting a blogwide Halloween Celebration like the one last year, and it looks like so much fun I decided to toss in my pointy hat...

So October 17th I'll be part of a series of blog celebrations. And I don't have to leave my chair to be a part of the festivities! So... now I've got to put on my mad scientist hat and see what kind of ghoulish frivolity I can come up with.

A Ghoultide Gathering

In my wanderings around the web (not the spidery one) I came across this fantastic sounding event featuring some amazing Halloween artists. The Ghoultide Gathering is going to be October 3, 2009 in Northville, Michigan. It sounds like so much fun. There's even a blog for it, too.

I really wish that I lived a teensy bit closer (well a lot closer), since among the many talented artisans who will be there are two of my favorites. I adore the work of Nicol Sayre:

I'm also crushing on the adorable work of Lori Ann Corelis:

The title of that last one is "Oh, Nuts." Now who could have imagined a squirrel that is sweetly spooky and cute all at the same time. That's my favorite sort of Halloween... I'm not into the gory gruesome stuff. No thanks.

The Queen of Halloween has some adorable costume ideas for kids on her site, like Little Red Riding Hood, and some cute woodland creatures...

Makes me miss those days when my kids were the costume-making age. There was the year Katy was the kitchen sink, and then a picnic the following year. And Jeff the mobster was pretty funny.
